Recreational Guidelines - Dive Subculture Technical
For Students of Dive Subculture Technical
Welcome to Dive Subculture Dive Center
We’re so excited that you’ve chosen to dive with us! Whether you’re just getting started or you’re looking to level up your skills, we’re here to make sure you have an unforgettable (and safe) experience. Below are some helpful guidelines to make your time with us as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Getting Ready for Your Course
To make the most of your dive adventure, we recommend completing the theory part of your course online before you arrive. Doing so will:
- Free up more time for you to be in the water, exploring!
- Help us do our part in protecting the environment by reducing paper use.
You can get your e-learning access by dropping us an email, or if you’d prefer, we can send you a physical copy of the course materials—whatever works best for you!
What You’ll Need
We want you to feel prepared and confident when you arrive. Here’s what you should keep in mind:
- Make sure you meet the prerequisites for your course (we can help you confirm that if you’re unsure).
- Be ready to have fun, learn, and challenge yourself a little!
- Don’t stress! We’re here to guide you every step of the way, but certification is earned through demonstrating the skills—you’ve got this!
It’s a good idea to plan a couple of extra days into your holiday just in case you need more dives or some extra time on the theory. Everyone learns at their own pace, and we want you to feel confident before earning that certification.
Before Your Dives
Each dive will have a brief pre-dive chat, where we’ll go over the dive plan, talk about the site we’re visiting, and make sure you’re comfortable with everything. We’ll cover things like:
- How deep we’re going and how long we’ll stay underwater.
- What to expect in terms of marine life and currents.
- Any special considerations to keep in mind for the dive site.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask! We’re here to make sure you feel prepared and excited.
Your Dive Gear
We know how important it is to feel confident in your gear, so we’ll help you double-check everything before each dive. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:
- Making sure your BCD, regulator, and tank are working properly (we’ll show you how).
- Setting your dive computer so it’s ready for the dive.
- Making sure your mask, fins, and wetsuit fit comfortably.
We’ll always be nearby to assist with anything you need—your safety and comfort are our top priority!
During Your Dive
While you’re out exploring the underwater world, we have a few key safety tips to keep in mind:
- Always do a buddy check before you jump in (we’ll guide you through it).
- Stick to the dive plan and check in with your buddy regularly.
- Practice good buoyancy so you can protect the marine life and have a smoother dive.
••Remember to ascend slowly and do a safety stop to make sure your body adjusts properly after each dive.
In Case of an Emergency
We’ve got your back! Our dive boats are fully equipped with Oxygen and First Aid kits, and our instructors are trained for any emergency situation. If you ever get separated from your buddy, we’ll follow standard protocols to make sure you’re back together safely.
After the Dive
Once you’re back on the boat or shore, we’ll debrief the dive, chat about what went well, and discuss anything you’d like to improve on. We’ll also update your logbook together—it’s always fun to see how far you’ve come!
Dive Subculture’s Safety Promise
Your safety is our top priority, and we follow the best safety practices to make sure you have a fun and worry-free dive. Here’s a quick reminder of a few key safety points:
- Bring a medical certificate showing that you’re fit to dive (we’ll help with this if needed)
- Make sure your dive computer is properly set and ready to go.
- Always follow our environmental guidelines to protect the ocean and its inhabitants.
At Dive Subculture, we’re all about creating a friendly, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere where you can enjoy the underwater world to the fullest. We can’t wait to dive with you and help you make memories that will last a lifetime!

EXCELLENT Based on 15 reviews Yaz2023-05-08Verified Best Open Water Certification I did my Open Water Certification with Jeremy Asher and I could not have been more happy with it. I learnt so much more than the material and he had a good balance of prioritising safety and fun with his love for the ocean. He was extremely patient and really emphasised key areas, ensuring we had the tips to help us succeed and tailoring his training style to each student. I am really satisfied with the robustness of this course provided by Dive Subculture - thanks Jeremy for making this such a memorable experience and introducing me to the world down under! 🐠🤿💯 Nay Lin H2023-01-29Verified Who love to dive I was so excited of having the experiences of diving during the Open Water Course training. Even though, it is my first experience, I have successfully performed by my excellent instructor Mr.Darren. I would rate the training as 5 stars as the instruction and guidances provided not only during the pool training and open water course was really encouraging and stimulating. Thanks so much Mr.Darren, Mr.Jeremy, Mr. Alex and Dr.Ant who took care and welcomed me during the course of the training. Last, not least, I thanks Mr.Aamir for all the administrative arrangements for the course. I strongly recommend SDI and Dive Subculture Myanmar for those who love to dive. Eugene2022-11-23Verified Amazing Open Water Dive Course in Myanmar One of the most well planned dive open water course. Even though my flight was delayed to Thandwe, Ngapali , they manage to fit me in. Training was done in the pool professionally by Mr Darren at Amata Resort. Equipment was well checked before passing to a student. Open water was planned well. It was a strenuous day but they manage to cover it . The open water was conducted very strictly but safely. Safety came first for all students. Some had to repeat the task if not completed correctly. Thumbs up to this organization. From hotel, boat arrangements, equipments, assistance, instructors, meals. I will dive with them again and will not hesitate to recommend them to newbies to diving. Big Thanks to Jeremy, Darren, Sven and Arnt for training and taking care of us. Darren S2022-11-22Verified A thrilling time in the beautiful seas of Myanmar I did from Open Water up to Dive Master it DSC - one of the best dive centres I've been to anywhere in the world and by far the best in Myanmar. They now offer courses all the to instructor and for recreational and technical diving also.Recently had another trip with DSC for fun diving - amazing dive sites, lots of wildlife and coral and exciting locations. Their approach to organisation and safety is fantastic and the instructors and guides are great hosts and company. They are the only 5 star SDI IT training centre in Myanmar so I was already confident in their standards. If you want to learn diving in Myanmar, or want to do some fun rec or tec dives, this is the place to go. Big thanks to all at DSC! Will definitely be back again - see you underwater soon! Tara2022-09-11Verified Best dive centre in Myanmar! I did three scuba diving courses (Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Rescue Diver) with Dive Subculture since 2021. At the beginning, I was uncertain about learning to dive in Myanmar, but Dive Subculture had made it enjoyable and made me feel confident as a diver. The instructors are very experienced and always have high standards when it comes to their teaching and divers’ safety. Compared to my experience diving with some dive centres in Thailand, Dive Subculture is top notch in terms of their standards and quality. I highly recommend Dive Subculture for anyone who wants to learn diving whilst in Myanmar. The dive centre is conveniently based in Yangon with its own pool and a dive shop where one can find a wide range of diving equipments. In the high season, the dive centre organises regular trips to Ngapali and Ngwesaung for both courses and fun dives. Sridhar R2021-03-20Verified Open Water Course I did my open water course dives with Dive Subculture last week and completed the required dives and pool sessions at Ngapali, Myanmar. Amazing experience and was very impressed with the standard of instruction, guidance and equipments. The instructor who is from Singapore, spoke in good English and ensured that standards were not compromised in learning, safety and comfort to newbies to this sport. I am very impressed and have extended my stay at Amata Resort for another week to pursue my advanced diver program. Will complete by this weekend, confidently with the instructor. Never knew life under water is so beautiful. Thanks to Dive Subculture.
